Really?

You know, I'm all for fairness to a certain standpoint when it comes to talk radio. Talk radio, despite the fact that some believe it's all Conservative talk is truthfully not. It's one of the few mediums where you, the listener, can become involved with the show. Honestly, no one wants someone blathering on for hours on end. Hence, that's why talk radio takes callers. Some Talk Radio shows are fully devoted to the host talking to callers. So fairness doctrine, I'm not in favor of. I am in favor of better call screeners and honestly just better mindsets on what's a good show and what's not a good show.

I won't mention any names but they are not on my local peeps over there on the left. Yet, occasionally my radio is tuned to them when I go home at night. They are on at 5pm and my radio promptly gets changed at about 5:05pm because that's about as much as I can stand of the mindless idiocy that is the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. Not the real name by the way because I refuse to give them any undue publicity.

What really put the nail in the coffin was last night. They were going on about Sarah Palin. These two men, who if you listened enough during the campaign were firmly affixed to the McCain boat. These gentlemen would pull out the standard line to other Conservatives not for McCain, telling them about "party unity" and "towing the party line". Now, add that with occasional platitudes about Obama and you see, the fairness doctrine is not needed. These two cover all the bases so well, you appease everyone who gets their political knowledge from the Kansas City Star and maybe CNN. When they can watch because you know, American Idol is on.

These knuckleheads spent DAYS talking about Michael Jackson. DAYS. I don't understand this obsession with the man. And then turn around to yesterday evening and they are discussing Sarah Palin. A caller was saying she was all "soundbites" and she didn't have "gravitas". Rocky immediately agreed with him and dared to state that if the Conservatives could find someone smart but (oh he didn't dare to say it) looked like Sarah Palin, we'd be great.

Click.

Done. If you're truly going to be in the political arena of ideas, sirs, you might want to actually think about things you say. Basically discounting Sarah Palin as unintelligent but saying, "hey, we could bank on her looks" is extremely sexist and ignorant. Sarah Palin is no more speaking in soundbites than Obama is. The man is a walking three ring circus. We shouldn't even have a press core that reports actual news. Just tell us what our great leader is up to. They should rename People and make it Obama magazine.

Your show only proves three things. Saying your Conservative and not backing it up with actually educating yourself on the meaning of the word doesn't make you a Conservative. Just because you've been in the media and radio in Kansas City for a really long time doesn't make you a good show host and for the love of God, you need a better producer and call screener.
