I do not understand my bank

I don't know if it's a situation with the whole banking industry going to shit but suddenly, I'm in dire straights due to my bank not working with another bank.

I've overdrawn my account. Well, I actually haven't overdrawn it. My bank has overdrawn it. I have money in there I can't get access to.

Here's what happened. On the 16th, my mother wrote me a check for $300 bucks that she owed me. I then deposited said check on the 17th. Everything went through hunky dory, or so I thought. Her bank says it went through on the 20th. My bank says they put a hold on the check. So..here it is the 27th and her check which her bank says went through still hasn't hit my bank and therefore, I'm overdrawn over $300 bucks. I have people calling me saying their checks have been returned. I owe a bunch of money that can't get out because I'm being held hostage by the Bank Of America. AHHHH!!!

You know, Dave Ramsey says to go all cash and I'm beginning to think that's the way to go. I'm going to start budgeting seriously and hopefully this will be avoided from now on. I'm tired of my bank account being at the whim of whatever.

We have BOA and this has happened to us on several ocassions. We now are cash only for that very reason. When I was with a credit union in Stl, we never had this problem..Hugs
