The Vixen's Playlist

I do this from time to time since I did happen to make music a very big portion of my life. I know I said I was going to do it weekly and I may still but I honestly listen to so much music it's hard to narrow it down to a topic every week. Who knows. This week's topic is "songs that I really really like but do not own the album, download, whatever and usually forget about until I hear them and go, 'Oh I love this song.'" So here are, in no particular order of loving them, the top five songs I do not own but really really like.

1. Silent Lucidity by Queensryche
I know this song probably has some deep meaning I'm missing but I do like it. I can't explain to you why I like it. I love the Gothic rock songs and I'm a big fan of Evanescence. The sweeping orchestral with electric guitars. Yes. I want to dress in Heavy Red wear and light candles pretending I'm a vampire or whatever.

2.Rocket Man by Elton John
I have to admit I do like Elton John. I own nothing of his though. I don't own a single album. I only like certain songs. Not a fan of Tiny Dancer but I like to hear Rocket Man on occasion.

3.Back In Black by AC/DC
Here's another band that I like but I own no albums of. I have no idea why I don't own any AC/DC and honestly, it's not just Back In Black that I like. I like a lot of their songs. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. TNT. Thunderstruck. Great music to turn up loud, roll your windows down and drive around town in. You feel like such a bad ass.

4.Mercy Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye
You know, I think this was the real point where Marvin Gaye and I tend to coincide. I like Marvin and I like the majority of his songs but they are a little too puffy, happy for me. Mercy Mercy Me is just a great song. I have to admit I am a great soul music fan and I love quite a bit of music in that genre but I don't actually own any of it. I have no idea why that is but I'm one of those odd people of my generation. Most would turn on the 80's station. I turn on the 70's classic rock or soul music station. Then Marvin and I diverge again when we get to Let's Get It On and Sexual Healing. I like those songs but something about them reminds me of 70's porn and I get improper pictures in my mind. They make me giggle like a school girl. Yes, the prude in me giggles at the sexual songs.

5.Grandma's Hands by Bill Withers
Bill is right up there with Marvin. I just love this song. For some reason it reminds me of my mother. Not my grandmother. It's such a great song with a purity of the lyrics of a the love a grandmother for a little boy then you add in just the coolest rhythm ever. You instinctively bob your head or tap your toe when you listen to this song. Sadly, I don't own it.

So there you have it. The top five songs I love but don't own. I think I may change that and download them on Itunes tonight.
